A Few Words

From George Wehby

I am George Wehby, Head Instructor here at Lion Heart Jiu-Jitsu Academy.

I am a life long martial artist with black belts in multiple martial arts and have Worked as a US Marine, a Police Officer in the DC area, a Federal Air Marshal with the Department of Homeland Security and a Tactics Instructor for the State Department. In my experience, I have seen what works, what doesn’t, what issues we and our families will face when it comes to self-defense.

LionHeart Jiu-Jitsu Academy was born out of a vision to provide a place, culture and strategy to build and equip individuals to reach their full potential in all areas of life. I have extensive experience training kids and adults for the issues they will face. My calling is to give them the tools and knowledge to thrive in all environments through the lessons Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu teaches.

It is more than takedowns and submission holds, its about self-mastery in mind, body and spirit.

The lessons we learn on the mat have a vital impact way beyond the few hours one is in training. They are lessons and strategies that will last a lifetime and beyond. Knowing this, I pursue each moment we have together as vital and utmost care has gone into each lesson prepared.

Do I need to know jiu-jitsu or Judo to study Brazilian Jiu Jitsu?

No, you don’t. There are beginner classes available and many of the people who study Brazilian Jiu Jitsu have no prior martial arts training.
